Through the Scholarship program established last spring, VisioCheck is scheduled to be delivered to 22 school Divisions this Fall! The “back to school” kick off began with program delivery to 10 schools in Pittsylvania County and seven Head Start locations in Richmond City.
Over the course of five days, VisioCheck was delivered to 1,486 Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 3rd grades students in 10 elementary schools in Pittsylvania County, finding 304 (20%) in need of follow-up vision care. That same week, Conexus staff started VisioCheck delivery to seven Head Start locations in Richmond and in two days delivered programming to 335 students, finding 128 (38%) in need of follow-up vision care.
Programs are scheduled to deliver to over 32,000 students from Hampton to Staunton and Lee County to Manassas Park before the Thanksgiving Holiday! It’s going to be a busy next few months at Conexus!!
Through the leadership of Rotarian Wayne Castleberry and his James River Rotary Club, five clubs came together to bring VisioCheck to over 3,500 Kindergarten and 3rd Grade students in Chesterfield Title 1 schools. The project launches this fall and will be a part of the Conexus/VCU study.
