Marty Giles, VSC Fire Protection Board Chair and former Conexus Golf Classic Chairman, was remembered at the June 8th Golf Classic. Marty was a true friend and leader to our organization, helping to raise significant support for vision programs through his role as tournament Chairman. Just one day following the tournament, which he lead and participated in for well over a decade, our office was notified of his $50,000 bequest for ongoing support of our children’s programs. We are humbled by Marty’s generous gift and full of gratitude for his friendship over the years. Marty’s legacy will live on through the children whose lives will be impacted by the programs made possible by his gift.
We are honored and humbled to announce Horst and Gloria Arfert as founding members of the Conexus Scholarship Fund. Horst and Gloria’s generous gift launches the fund, which will be used to help make comprehensive school-based vision programs accessible to more children around the region for the coming school year. Conexus programs cost $10 per child to deliver; the scholarship fund will help to offset these costs for our partners. Conexus’ mission is to help all children reach their fullest potential by eliminating undetected and untreated vision problems as barriers to success in school and life. Horst and Gloria are opening up a whole new world of possibilities for school children around the region, and we are grateful for their ongoing friendship and support.
On June 8th, Conexus played host to 200 golfers at Hermitage Country Club, raising over $100,000 to support Conexus school-based programs. Congratulations to the Siegel Cup winners, Capital Interior Contractors! The tremendous success of this event is credited to the talented and dedicated tournament planning committee, chaired by John Locher, Taylor and Parrish Construction. As part of this exciting day we were also able to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Taylor & Parrish with a special presentation. Tournament photos and full results can be found here.
